Glass and Plastics
1967-68
During the late 60’s Dante Leonelli, then a painter, moved into a new flat in London. Not happy with the light fittings available in the shops, he managed to find what he wanted at a warehouse sale in the east end of London… an assortment of ready-made industrial and civic glass components, which he could freely re-arrange.
These ‘works’ were programmed to gently cross-fade through a series of continuous colour changes. Also introduced were specifically designed plastic components, initially functioning as stands or platforms, completing and integrating the ready-made glass components into ‘Light-Sculptures’.
