Notting Hill Gate Halo

2000

A pair of interactive solar powered halos of light which monitor and reflect changing levels of environmental traffic and air pollution. The Notting Hill Gate Eco Halos would be suspended above the urban streetscape, cradled and supported by an almost invisible fine filigree of stainless steel wires.

By day, the 1.5 mm diameter wires would be visible as a glistening sculptural form, supported by three slender masts. By night, the Notting Hill Eco Halos would hover in suspended animation, glowing above the busy intersections. Gradual light transformations would occur almost imperceptibly in response to changing environmental conditions.
