On the strength of his work with glass Light Sculptures, Leonelli was appointed Head of the Plastics Research Unit by Professor Lord Queensberry at the Royal College of Art. Using the facilities of the RCA, a wide range of vacuum-formed thermo-plastic ‘domes’ grew out of (and replaced) what remained of the glass components.
